Velma has been with Burdorf Interiors for over ten years serving as the Executive Vice President, Buyer, Marketing, and Community Relationship Developer. Her work has been highlighted in numerous newspapers, magazines and television where she is the Kentuckiana Design Pro for WHAS. Charitable Design Projects include the designer for Norton Children’s Foundation, Win a House, Help a Child for four consecutive years, Bellarmine Women’s Council Show Houses, numerous Homearama Homes. She is also the designer for the Set of WHAS Great Day Live. Velma has a huge following of customers and is often known to be working with second generations of families and many repeat clients. Her work can be seen in the Elite Home Models and the Clubhouses. She is the commercial designer for The City of St. Matthews, The Chamber of St. Matthews, The Middletown Chamber and Outfront Media. Velma enjoys volunteering at many local events, organizations, non- profits, and in her free time she enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Phyllis Zaepfel is the Operations Executive for Burdorf Interiors. She has been in the industry for more than 35 years. With her extensive retail furniture experience including positions in sales, IT management, distribution supervision, system implementation, and customer relationship management, she drives the company’s strategic growth initiatives and oversees all daily operations and client services at Burdorf Interiors.
Kathy Kleeman is a furniture and design consultant at Burdorf Interiors. She’s been in the furniture business for 30 years (including the Bacons Home Store in St. Matthews) and the last 18 years with Burdorf Interiors. Kathy has had the opportunity to meet and help so many people find just the right furniture for their home. She gets a lot of satisfaction helping first time customers and takes a lot of pride in knowing that so many regular customers from over the years continue to come to Kathy for help or to recommend her to their friends. Kathy looks forward to many more years at Burdorf Interiors continuing to do her best for our Burdorf customers.
Kevin Vallance has been in the interior design field for more than 30 years. Kevin completed his Design Degree from EKU and has been in furniture and kitchen and bath design ever since. It’s what he loves to do. Kevin also had his own Faux Painting service for about 10 yrs. It’s always gratifying for Kevin to have completed a project and see the joy on customers faces. Kevin has been at Burdorf Interiors for 2 years now and he’s very proud to be part of the Burdorf Team.
Kiersten Trover is one of our in-home designer & sales consultant. She comes to us from Arhaus Furniture in the St Matthews Mall where she worked in sales for the last 3 years. Kiersten grew up Madisonville and then Louisville graduating from Assumption High School. She then attended U/K leaving in her senior year to graduate with her BA in fashion design from the International Academy of Design in Tampa Florida. She moved to Dallas Texas and worked at Fossil in footware and part time at the Dallas Trade Mart.. Later she worked at VOOM by Joy Han in contemporary appeal for 2 years. She moved back to Louisville where she worked for the Flooring Gallery in its builder division for 3 years. She then moved on to sales and design with Arhaus.
Kimberly recently moved from Kansas to her hometown of Louisville Ky with her thirteen year old daughter to be near her family. She is overjoyed to be able to pursue her passion of home furnishings with family, friends and new clients!
Bayley is one of our Interior Decorators / Consultants. She was born and raised in Mayfield, Kentucky and moved to Louisville straight out of high school where she began studying Interior Design at the University of Louisville. She recently became certified as an Interior Decorator through Interior Decorators International. She worked in sales and home decor for 3 years and worked at Bliss Home for a short time before joining the team here at Burdorf Interiors. Bayley is excited to start her new career here with our team!
Dolly has recently joined our Burdorf team after long-term careers in both business and ministry. Most recently, Dolly served as the Executive Minister of Middletown Christian Church here in Louisville. She is deeply invested in the local community, building deep partnerships and lasting relationships through years of local service and outreach. Dolly is a life-long Kentucky native who has spent the last 27 years with her husband Steve, raising two children (and three dogs). A graduate of the University of Kentucky, Dolly brings with her a passion for warm spaces, an eye for color, and a love for creating welcoming environments that draw people in. She loves to make the very most of any type of living space, creating surroundings that make people feel at home – no matter where they are.
Mr. Morris is currently the President and CEO of Burdorf Interiors and Overstock Furniture Deals, a one hundred and fifty-three-year-old interior design and furnishings company for residential clients. He currently owns and manages a number of commercial real estate buildings and residential apartments. He is the developer of the Highland Preserves an upper end subdivision in the Highlands of Louisville.
Prior to his work in the retail sector, Mr. Morris worked for the State of Indiana in Health Planning He was the president of a Kentucky based medical HMO (American Health Plan, Inc.) and later ran medical laboratories for several hospitals in Kentucky and Indiana, including Humana’s flagship hospital, Suburban Hospital in Louisville and Clark County Hospital in Jeffersonville Indiana. He co-founded of the nation’s second largest pre-paid dental and vision insurance company (CompDent Dental Plan) which began in 1976 and later sold in a public offering in 1995. He was also one of the founders of the Association of Prepaid Dental Plans that represented the US prepaid dental health industry as a trade organization. During this period he started and ran a Dental Laboratory in conjunction with CompDent.
Mr. Morris served in the US Air Force for 27 years as a clinical laboratory officer during the Vietnam War and as an Admissions Liaison Officer with the USAF Academy. He retired from the US Air Force in June of 2003 as a Lt. Col. He has served on the City of Louisville Police Administrative and Internal Affairs Review Board, and the Greater Louisville Chamber of Commerce (GLI) Healthcare Task Force, a member of the downtown Rotary Club as well as many other civic organizations. He holds a Bachelor in Biology from the University of Louisville, KY and a Master of Science from Murray State University in Murray KY. Further, he did post graduate studies at Ohio State University in the sciences. He taught College Biology at Murray State University prior to going on active duty with the US Air Force. He did advance studies in education and completed all the course work for a Master of Education. He completed a one year externship in the US Air Force regional hospital system in clinical laboratory medicine and received a certification in clinical laboratory medicine from the Center of Disease Control (CDC).
